An overflow crowd of 106 patrons, donors, volunteers, cast and crew members attended Dezart Performs’ 16th annual season Wrap Party May 19 at Willie’s Fine Fare. The mood was one of celebration, as Clark Dugger, President of the Board of Directors, opened the presentation announcing a very successful season with 99% occupancy. He also thanked the members of the Board for their support.
Artistic Director Michael Shaw thanked the staff, sponsors and offered special thanks to all that made the shows possible, followed by a “Making It Happen” behind-the-scenes video.
Guest directors Randy Brenner (MR. PARKER) and Craig Wells (WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME) gave emotional speeches about their positive experiences with the Dezart team.
A “look back” video of stills from the past season’s productions season was screened. Shaw then presented the 2023/24 Creative Star Award to Rick Bluhm for his outstanding set and lighting designs.
Volunteer Coordinator Cicely Gargaro gave special thanks to the many loyal, dedicated volunteers, and presented the Volunteer of the Year Award to Carol Moore for the many hours she has worked as a volunteer.
Gailya Brown, Dezart Performs’ Director of Development, announced new donor benefits available at the various levels. She also touched upon our NEXT STAGE campaign for the Dezart Playhouse, where we continue to raise funds for our new theater with plans to open in the 2025/26 season.
Shaw wrapped up the event by announcing the upcoming 2024/25 season.
