Our dear friend and fellow actor Garnett Smith passed away on July 24th. Garnett was a cherished member of our Dezart family, appearing in several of our early productions, including Exquisite Potential, Casa Valentina, and many of our play reading series performances.
Garnett brought warmth, intelligence, and quiet strength to every role he played. He was a kind and gentle soul—thoughtful, generous, and deeply committed to his craft and community. His presence backstage was as calming and supportive as it was inspiring onstage.
He leaves behind a legacy of grace, talent, and friendship that touched everyone who had the pleasure of working with him. We will miss him dearly and hold his memory close as we continue the work and art he loved so much.
