Come From Away
BOOK, MUSIC AND LYRICS BY IRENE SANKOFF AND DAVID HEIN
Winner of the 2017 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical
Set in the days following 9/11, COME FROM AWAY tells the remarkable true story of how the people of Gander, Newfoundland, welcomed thousands of stranded travelers, demonstrating extraordinary generosity, resilience and humanity in the face of uncertainty. What began as an average day turned into an international sleepover when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Filled with soaring music, humor and unforgettable humanity, this inspiring hit celebrates kindness, generosity and the powerful connections that can emerge during times of crisis.
Running time: 1 hour, 40 minutes with no intermission.
Directed by Dennis Courtney
Musical direction by Stephen Hulsey

Even the most stalwart cynics may have trouble staying dry-eyed during this portrait of heroic hospitality under extraordinary pressure.
A deeply moving musical that should prove a tonic in troubled times.
Here's that feel-good show that audiences constantly pine for. 'Come from Away' is a modest, earnest, life-affirming musical by Irene Sankoff and David Hein that makes people think the human race might not be doomed, after all.
