HILLARY AND CLINTON
The 2019 Broadway Political Dark Comedy by Lucas Hnath
In an alternate universe light-years away from our own is a planet called Earth. It looks a lot like our Earth, except it’s slightly different. And living on this other Earth is a woman named Hillary. Hillary is trying to become the president of a country called the United States of America. It’s 2008 and she’s campaigning in a state called New Hampshire. She’s not doing very well in the polls. She needs more money to keep the campaign going, so she calls her husband for help. He offers her a deal, a tough deal, but when she gets his help, she gets more than she bargained for. You may think you know where this story is going, but you don’t. After all, the play takes place in an alternate universe where anything can happen.
Running time: 90 minutes.
There will be no intermission.
New! All evening shows now start at 7 PM!
On top of it being a terrific production, [Andi] Matheny's portrayal of Hillary shines as bright as our very own North Star. It’s definitely a performance more than worthy of your attendance.
Hillary and Clinton is an entertaining, low-key and intimate study of what could have happened behind the scenes back in 2008… it will make you think—an important goal for any theatrical production.
Dezart Performs is rightfully touted as one of the best professional theatres in the desert. Director Craig Wells keeps the pace moving quickly with staging that enhances the dialog perfectly.
Without doing true impersonations, Andi Matheny (Hillary) and Brent Schindele (Bill) flawlessly capture the essence of the title characters.
